Dr. Anita Tan
Consultant Psychologist
PhD (Psychology), M Applied Psych (Clinical), MAAPi.
I work comfortably with clients who are experiencing relational conflict, substance misuse, complex trauma, emotional management (depression, grief, anger), and cultural adjustment.
I have a deep commitment to working with vulnerable populations from a social justice perspective and utilise a strengths-based and trauma-integrated approach to invite collaborative and co-created outcomes.
Across the clinical roles I have undertaken, I have worked extensively with vulnerable populations comprising adults (including those in diverse priority communities), couples, children, adolescents, people in custody, migrants and refugees, as well as the elderly.
I have a firm respect for working sensitively within different (sub) / cultural contexts, and use a strengths-based approach to invite collaborative work within the therapeutic environment.
My therapeutic approach that I bring into all client-facing communications and interventions is child-focused, client-centred, compassionate, and flexible. I work from a range of clinical frameworks including interpersonal therapy, narrative therapy, and attachment-focused schema therapy.
I am also an approved AHPRA Supervisor.
Languages: Cantonese and Mandarin
